PRAYER FOCUS: PREVAILING POWER OF THE BLESSING
Text: Genesis 32:26-28
And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me. And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob. And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.
Jacob, by virtue of his genealogy was already blessed beyond measure. He was blessed even while he was not yet being born. There was a prophetic declaration on him while he was yet in the womb that he being the youngest shall rule over his older brother Esau. When he was born, he was fortunate to have received the pronouncements of the blessings from his both parents, Isaac and Rebecca.
One thing is missing in Jacob’s life, despite the prophetic words of blessings on him while in the womb and the blessings of his both parents. Jacob knew that the blessing to prevail against his angry brother who has vowed to take revenge against him wasn’t in place yet. And this is where we are in the text today.
Jacob was left alone intentionally because he needed to make demands on the prevailing power of the blessings of God which will bring him victory against Esau and will also preserve all his belongings. So he set out time to pray and to wrestle in the spirit of prayer till his identity was changed. Interestingly this was a night before he met Esau his unforgiving brother.
Jacob would have been killed or probably become servant to Esau without that encounter with the prevailing power of the blessing.
The prevailing power of the blessings is the supernatural force for unstoppable success, provision, divine protection, and generational influence, enabling individuals to overcome challenges, generate wealth, and achieve breakthroughs where others fail, essentially setting them apart for greatness. In the Name of Jesus I declare that is your portion henceforth.
Prayer
- Lord, in the Name of Jesus, I make demands for the prevailing power of the blessings for me and my family and loved ones that will cause me to prevail against those who set traps.
- Lord Jesus, Transform me and change my identity against those whom the enemy have kept in the waiting to harm me.
- Lord Jesus, I make demands for an unstoppable, unrestricted, barrier breaking, mystery demystified and unbelievable victory. Thank you Lord.
