PRAYER FOCUS: BREAKTHROUGH PRAYER
Text: 1Chronicles 4:9-10
And Jabez was more honourable than his brethren: and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, Because I bare him with sorrow. And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.
It’s been often said, if there is a man to pray, there is a God to answer ! We cannot underestimate the blessings of effective prayer. Jabez provides a wonderful instance of a child of God approaching the Majesty on High in humility, faith, and reliance upon God’s goodness.
There are blessings that only prayer can unlock. Jabez, a man of sorrow whose surname we don’t even know because of the circumstances that surrounded his birth. He was probably cursed from the time he was conceived because his mother had gone through untold pain and molestation probably because of the situation that brought that conception. Jabez’ lean-age is traced to Juda one of the blessed sons of Jacob.
Jabez knew nothing was going to change except he would call on the God of Israel. His prayers changed the trajectory of his life that was trapped by a curse. Jabez became more honorable, respectful and dignified than his contemporaries because of his lifestyle of prayer.
Jabez called on the God of Israel to bless him and to enlarge his coast. This means that God can extend His blessings of kindness, mercy, favor, grace and wealth if we call on Him with humility, faith and in all passion.
Jabez prayed for God’s protection against harm, evils and the bad wills of men.
He prayed for guidance and divine direction.
He prayed for God’s presence which is the safest place we can ever be in our world today, and God granted his request.
But supposedly he did not pray what would have happen to his destiny? The truth is, God wants us to pray our hearts to Him in submission. He said make your request known. (Philippians 4:6)

Prayer
- Lord Jesus, let my prayer alter burns with the passion of prayer.
- Starve every lifestyle of prayer-less-ness and equip my spirit to pray as I receive the prompting.
- Keep me away from all evil and shame or disgrace organized or planned against me and my household.
- Grant me guidance and divine direction in the year 2026.
- Make my life more dignified and respectful than ever before, Lord in Jesus’ Name .
- Bless me so much so that it will shake every trace of curse or spell placed by the enemies.
- Oh Lord, in the year 2026, bless me with both spiritual and material blessings.
- Thank you Lord for my request is granted.
